Description

This is a photograph taken of St Werburgh Church in Devon. Iam not a religious man, but i have taken a bit of a liking to this structure and i decided to use it, for my end of year project at university. The building was built in the 14th century, and even before that there stood a Saxon oratory on the site, which dates back to the 9th Century. I have named it " A Church With Eyes" because of its location. It is near one of the worlds largest natural harbours and over the centuries, it has witnessed the coming and going of many famous sea voyages. I hope you like it :)

Nice colors, compo and sharpness could be improved IMO...

Its a beautiful location. A wonderful natural setting impacted impressively by the human hand. Personally I would seek for a wider angle lens. If you could somehow capture the fullness of that landscape behind it would bring that photo to life immeasurably.

Still really like it, would like to see this first-hand myself now.

As to not being religious, how do you define religious anyway? I suppose you mean you are not part of an organised religion, but vague anyway.

I would like to see a little more details on the whites of the clouds.

I am not religious, in the sense that i don't waste my time, sat on my knees every Sunday praying to the invisible man in the sky. Lol.... i was just about to go on a rant then, but i think, i will leave it there.;-)

Thanks for all your comments.

I really liked the colours, but it has a blurry sense, a bit sharper and it would be much much better.

Everything is a matter of taste : really beautiful place, nice compo, but those saturated colours don't convince me. On the contrary, I would have lowed the saturation, to give it a more dramatic/slight of depressing mood feeling.

Great view, nice image.

I do think it's a bit oversaturated though... the blueness of the sky and sea and the greenness of the grass is just a bit too much to be credible and the artificiality detracts a little from the content.

Also, my first thought was that the church itself should be more central in the photograph, although you wouldn't to lose that view of the cliffs in the background.

Great choice of subject though, the natural landscape with a manmade object so old it's almost part of the natural landscape... maybe it would be worth trying the opposite approach, for example, a really contrasty black-and-white image.

Think it would also look good as a B&W, maybe even better.;)

Pretty nice photo. The composition could be way better though. The ramp going down the stairs is a bit distracting.

Beautiful scenery and colours. The sky fits well with the building.
Carlos has a point about the clouds. A polarizer would be good to use here.
